Scalextric Digital sets valued at £170,000 have been stolen from a lorry park in
Kent in what police said was a planned operation.
Officers said 866 new Scalextric box sets were taken early on Monday from a lorry
park near Detling Aerodrome.
Det Con Catherine Baker said a trailer that had contained the sets was later found
abandoned and empty in London.
She said the offenders "clearly targeted the trailer knowing the high value of its
contents".
She said: "These Scalextric sets are brand new to the shops and, as such, are highly
desirable, with each set retailing for around £200.
"I advise consumers to be aware not to buy any of these Scalextric sets from anyone
but an approved retailer."
Appealing for witnesses, she said the model in the box sets that were stolen was a
Scalextric Digital Super GT race set, containing an Aston Martin DBR9, a Porsche 911
GT3R and a Dodge Viper.
If you are offered any of these cars or you see these being offered on ebay from a
"NEW" seller then contact the KENT police.
