This guide was originally written before Simple-H modification, it includes 4 connectors to do the Maestro-Esclava modification. For PB-ProEsp you only need 2 connectors.
Intro
This guide is to show those not electrically proficient how to wire up a new power supply to a powerbase (or two if you have done the MS mod). This allows you to run higher voltages and more current to get your cars faster and less sensitive to other players throttle positions. I’m doing this for an MS conversion and using an old stabilised 13.8V 5 Amp power supply from my old CB radio days. If you are doing this for a standard PB then just do 2 wires with 2 connectors instead of four.
This rates at my difficulty rating 2/10.
The operations are very simple, but you need to be able to solder and strip the insulation off wires. If you are a kid then don’t forget that soldering irons are hot hot hot and you should get an adult to do that bit for you! (I like big cook, little cook!)
What do you need?
Per PB: Two (2) 2.1/5.5 power connectors (Maplin type HH60)
Two terminal connector (mine are 30 years old)
Twin wire moulded together with an earth marker on one side. I used high power speaker low loss speaker wire, available at all good stereo shops. Needs to be rated at 100 Watts.
A fine tipped soldering iron
Solder (low melting point)
Wire cutters
Wire strippers

Prepare the wires
Cut the wire into 4 lengths all equal.
Peel apart one end by about an inch so that you have two ends
